What’s Involved In Your Therapy?

CBT and psychological therapy involves weekly one-hour appointments face-to-face in our clinics in Banstead and Epsom, Surrey, or via Skype on-line.

Assessment

Initially, the first one or two sessions focus on understanding your current difficulties and identifying goals for treatment. We will then agree a tailored treatment plan, exploring the different therapy options that can help overcome the challenges you are facing.

Therapy

If you would like to continue with treatment following the assessment, we will agree a number of sessions following which we will review the therapy. The sessions will explore your difficulties and present ideas and knowledge aimed at understanding these in new ways. We will also introduce exploratory exercises, and encourage you to continue these outside of sessions to help with putting the ideas into practice in everyday life to bring meaningful change.

Moving On

We will review progress during the therapy and discuss when to end treatment, depending on your goals. We work ethically and aim to offer as few sessions as necessary in order for you to reach your treatment goals. The decision of when and how to end therapy, however, will always be taken jointly with you. We will of course take your funding circumstances into account. Our ultimate aim is to enable you to feel confident in being your own therapist, by teaching skills and strategies that will keep you well in the long-term and avoid future relapse.
