Psychological Support for Children and Families

We also specialise in working with Children and Families to promote psychological wellbeing by helping parents, children and young people make sense of their experiences and address any difficulties. Families choose to seek support from our service for a number of reasons, including:

  • Parenting support (from birth to adolescence)
  • Preschool issues (sleeping, eating, toileting)
  • Anxiety (panic attacks, phobias, OCD, separation anxiety)
  • Depression, low mood and self-esteem
  • School issues (peer relationships, attendance; stress about academic performance and exams)
  • Health and development (support with adjusting to illness, helping parents manage autistic spectrum disorders and other developmental conditions)

As Clinical and Counselling Psychologists, we are able to draw on a range of therapeutic models, including CBT, Systemic Therapy, Behavioural Therapy and Acceptance Commitment Therapy. Depending on the age of the child/children and the specific issues being addressed, the young person may be seen by themselves or with their parents and/or other family members. Whatever the concerns, we work collaboratively, building on your existing skills and experiences, to tailor our work to your unique needs and circumstances.
